Some Australian Hearing clients may have recently received communications from the Office of Hearing Services regarding Hearing Services and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
To clarify, there has been no change to current eligibility requirements to access hearing services through Australian Hearing. If you are a current client of Australian Hearing, you will continue to receive the same services.
For clients who access services via the Community Service Obligation (CSO) Program, Australian Hearing has an agreement with the Office of Hearing Services to continue be the sole provider of these services for this group until at least the end of June 2018.
The NDIS will not roll out nationally until 2019/20. However, if you are located within one of the current NDIS trial sites, you can choose to register with the NDIS now. Australian Hearing is an approved provider under the NDIS and registering will not change your level of access to hearing services. You will still receive the same services through Australian Hearing as you do now.
To register for the NDIS you must be under 65 years of age. For Australian Hearing clients turning 26 (and located within an NDIS trial site), this means you can register with the NDIS and, if you’re eligible, you can choose to continue to receive services from Australian Hearing.
A list of the Australian Hearing centres located within a NDIS trial site is available below.
If you require further information about the NDIS, please call the National Disability Insurance Agency (who oversee the NDIS) on 1800 800 110 or visit www.ndis.gov.au
